What happens on paving day

The trucks bring the mix hot from the plant. The paver spreads it in an even, continuous mat, the rollers compact it while it still carries heat, and the crew hand-finishes every edge the machine can't reach. Most residential jobs are placed in a single day. You can usually walk it that evening and drive it within a couple of days, depending on the heat.

Florida ground is the real test

Our sand drains fast, which is good, but it also shifts under weight, which is not. Pavement that skips base preparation rides that shifting sand and cracks apart early. We grade the site, place and compact the right base rock for the load, and only then bring in the mix. The part you never see is the part that decides how long your asphalt lasts.
